VHS Senior Scholarship

Scholarship for VHS Seniors

The Women's Sertoma Club of Venice awards $2,000 scholarships for VHS Seniors. The application deadline is March 6, 2024. This year we will be awarding 8 scholarships to VHS Seniors. 

To be eligible for a scholarship, you need to meet these qualifications:

  1. Senior at Venice High School

  2. Female

 

Scholarship Awards will be based on:

  1. Financial need

  2. Grade point average

  3. Career plans as described in your essay

  4. Community involvement

  5. Must attend in-state (Florida) college/university

 

Application Checklist:

  • Resume of work and school activities

  • Transcript from Crosspointe

  • Letters of recommendation: one from a teacher and one from a community member (within 12 months)

  • 2024-25 Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA

  • Essay on your career goals and why you have made that choice

  • Financial need statement

  • Letter of acceptance from the college/institution you plan to attend

 

Please send your completed application to Rotary Futures College Resource Center by March 6, 2024.

Continuing Education Scholarship

Scholarship for Continuing Education/Back-to-school

The Women's Sertoma Club of Venice awards $2,000 scholarships for Continuing Education and Back-to-School. The application deadline is March 6, 2024.  

 

To be eligible for a scholarship, you need to meet these qualifications.

  1. Female

  2. Venice area resident

  3. Funding for primary degree or technology training, not for advanced degrees

Scholarship Awards will be based on:

  1. Financial need

  2. Career plans as described in your essay

 

Application Checklist:

  • Community involvement, if applicable

  • Resume of work

  • Transcript (unofficial) or GED certificate

  • Letters of recommendation: one from a teacher/employer and one from a community member (within 12 months)

  • 2024-25  Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA

  • Essay on your career goals and why you have made that choice

  • Financial need statement

  • Letter of acceptance from college/institution you plan to attend

Elaine Moore Memorial Scholarship

Elaine Moore Memorial Scholarship

The Elaine Moore Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was created in memory of Elaine Moore of Venice

(January 29, 1953 - April 4, 2019)


Elaine worked as a substitute teacher at VHS for 16 years, giving her all to the job and her students. Throughout her life, she was involved in the community through CCD at Epiphany, Hospice volunteer, Divine Hearts Club, Women's Sertoma and a guardian angel of Venice YMCA Preschool. She encountered many adversities in her short life and battled them with courage and determination. She overcame these challenges with the healing power of generosity and kindness touching many lives along the way.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Elaine Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund must:

  • Be a graduating senior from Venice High School

  • Be female

  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • Demonstrate commitment to community service

  • Demonstrate plans to attend an institution of higher learning, which may be a 2-year or  4-year college

 

Scholarship awards will be based on:

1.) Financial need

2.) Volunteer hours

3.) Grade point average

4.) Career plans as described in your essay

5.) Must attend in-state (Florida) college/university

 

Award amount: $2,000

Submission deadline: March 6, 2024
